The intro:
When I took that pregnancy test back in april I never thought for a second how it would really be. I wouldnt say its a bad experience, but damn they sure do throw you into the ring when that baby comes out! (Thats 2 inches of baby right there)
Prepping for babys arrival:
Right away after Justen and I found out we were pregnant I started purchasing baby clothes, baby washclothes, baby everything I was in a whirlwind of baby stuff and it didnt stop, even after my baby shower I still felt I needed things, let me just add that I shouldnt have returned those newborn diapers as quick as I did, We are flying through them like none other!
I'm so impatient:
My due date was set for December 20th 2006, we were expecting a little boy, Logen Ryan and I was SOO ready for him to come out, 40 pounds gained I was ready to pop. As well as my feet had grown atleast 5 times their normal size (which i'm still working on getting them down).
The Birth Story:
Justen and I inquired about an induction to be done on the 20th (my due date) they agreed and I went to the OB on the 19th and was admitted that afternoon and the induction tape was inserted around 5 and I was good to go! Around 8 I started feeling those contractions and they felt like the worst period cramps every, and It sucked, around 1 I had enough and wanted medication, they said I wasnt dialated enough for an epidural (only 1 1/2 cm so far) so they gave me a shot of stadol (a fabulous muscle relaxer.) I was great, chatty and Justen just wanted me to shush and go to sleep, which i eventually ended up doing after watching a few episodes of aqua teen hunger force. Around 4 nurses kept coming in the room constantly having me move side to side over and over I was soo knocked out from the drugs I just complied and didnt think about anything bad happening at the moment, they gave me some oxygen and I remember them saying take some deep breaths for the baby, and I did. Shortly after my midwife comes in, and says "we have to get this baby out" Turns out his heart rate was dropping during each contraction I had and he would get really fussy when It happend and would squirm (hence all the rolling over on each side for them to track his heart rate). It took a moment for it to sink in, I was going to be a mom in the next hour. I woke Justen and said I had to have a c-section, he looked as puzzled as me but I knew they wouldnt perform this if it wasnt nessisary. When it comes down to it, I'm not sure if the induction tape caused this, or if the stadol caused it (i'm leaning more twards the stadol from what i've read). But I was on my way to the Operating room and I was getting my epidural done, which took forever to get in, very weird experience. Finally I was laying on the table my legs completely numb, justen comes in I wanted him to be next to me so bad. I told him not to look at my insides. I looked at him the whole time it was being done, lots of pressure and a few minutes later I heard the best sound in the world it was him crying, I loved it. I asked Justen if he wanted me to tell the nurses to cut the cord, but he said he would do it (my whole pregnancy Justen has swore that he wasnt going to cut the cord because of his issue with bellybuttons) but to my dismay the father in him bursted out and he cut it, a few minutes later they brought my beautiful baby boy over to me he was amazing tiny fingers it was the first thing I touched on him, I will never forget that moment ever. And so it was Logen Ryan Cumbo was born at 6:51 am weighing in at 7lbs 11 oz, and 20 inches long.
The first two weeks:
I can't say mommyhood is a breeze, its not difficult either, and you deffinately will loose sleep weather the baby is crying or you cant keep your eyes off of him to make sure that hes breathing or if hes hungry, or any other need he may have. In the hospital I breastfed him, it was like other things not the easiest but it wasnt the hardest, but it was very fusterating to know if he was actually eating enough that gave me enough reason when we came home to buy a pump and give him his food through a bottle, the lil guy went from eating 1.5 oz to 2.5 oz in less than 2 weeks of being on the bottle. We eventually decided to supplement formula at night because I couldnt keep up with his demand. Good thing cause he eats constantly, and alot. As of now he has become a delicious lil fatty!
The penis:
Theres this thing with boys they have a penis and it like to aim right at you and give you a golden shower whether you like it or not, but the trick to it, atleast our trick, have a wipe ready to put on it and it shouldnt be a problem. Another thing about the penis the past lets say 5 diapers i've had to change his complete outfits cause he leaks out of his diaper, my son is packing it by the way. So I've had to point it down before I close the diaper and pray we don't have any more leaks. He hasnt been circumsized yet, that'll probably happen in a week or so.
The begining of the rest of my life:
Well as for now I think i'm ready... maybe, well if I like it or not I have to be, our first pediatrcian appointment is tomorrow, heres to a clean bill of health and weight gain!
